The training day will lead delegates through the process of leading a Pupil Premium Review in a school through a series of interactive and practical sessions based on a range of case studies.

The day will be structured around the Teaching School Council publication, ‘Effective pupil premium reviews’ and will be enhanced through the use of a wide range of other materials and resources.

Conducting an Effective External Review of Governance - Exeter

This year’s School Improvement Offer highlights the importance of External Reviews of Governance in consolidating school improvement.  Regional Governance Leads will be running an updated training day on how to plan and conduct an External Review of Governance to analyse how well a school's governance is working and to identify ways to support and develop school leadership. They will share best practice examples from across the Region.

The session will include practical exercises in:  

(1) What new challenges arise from the 2019 Ofsted framework

(2) Contracting and setting objectives for the ERG,

(3) Recognising differences of Governance structures

(4) Identifying key documents for review,

(5)  Interviewing,

(6) The self-assessment questionnaire,

(7) Writing the ERG Report,

(8) Supporting the completion of a SMART Action Plan and

(9) Quality assurance and ongoing support
