Whole School SEND and Bristol City Council are hosting a training session 'Every Governor A SEND Leader' on Thursday 11th February and repeated on Friday 12 March.
This is a DfE funded project to support leadership of provision for children with SEND in Bristol.
The project includes a free training and development opportunity for governors, delivered by national consortium Whole School SEND.
The training is particularly appropriate for Chairs of Governors, but SEND Governors, and other governors wishing to gain a greater understanding of this area of governing body responsibility are also welcome to attend. Led by Malcolm Reeve, National SEND Leader, WSS and Erica Wolstenholme, South West England Regional SEND Leader WSS, the session will focus on governor’s role in the leadership of SEND provision. It is designed to deepen governor’s understanding of:
- The Equality Act
- The SEN Code of Practice
- Pupil Exclusions and governor responsibilities
- Headteacher Standards in respect of Governance
- WSS Governance Review Guide
